Vivid Dreams and nightmares

Exploring the emotional and symbolic layers of your inner world.

A grounded space to explore what your dreams may be expressing or holding

Therapy for dreams and nightmares.

Dreams and nightmares often surface when deeper emotional layers are trying to be heard. You might notice recurring imagery, vivid scenes or unsettling moments that stay with you long after waking. These experiences can feel confusing, frightening or strangely meaningful, especially if you’re navigating childhood trauma, attachment trauma, complex trauma or long standing attachment wounds. Many people describe feeling overwhelmed inside, even when life looks stable, and sense that their dreams are expressing something they haven’t yet been able to name.

If you’re someone who feels a lot, thinks deeply or carries old emotional material, your dreams may be reflecting inner conflicts, unmet needs or protective strategies that once helped you cope. Nightmares can also arise when your nervous system is holding stress, fear or unresolved experiences. I don’t interpret dreams for you. Instead, we explore their emotional and symbolic language together, noticing how they connect to your past and present, and what they may be expressing or inviting you toward.

What dream therapy involves

In dream therapy, we explore your dreams in a way that is embodied and experiential. We’ll bring awareness to emotions, bodily sensations, imagery and the parts of you that appear in the dream. This may support you in recognising patterns that feel hard to change, reactions that feel bigger than the moment, or inner emotional experiences that are difficult to articulate through usual talk therapy. Some people find that working with dreams helps them understand triggers, reconnect with vulnerable parts for emotional processing, or make sense of long standing patterns shaped by early attachment wounds or trauma.

Dream therapy may support you if you’re navigating unresolved emotions, identity shifts, life transitions, relational wounds, inner conflict, creative impulses or spiritual growth. It can also help with nightmares that feel emotionally charged, unsettling, or confusing.

Centred Wellness offers a grounded, compassionate space to explore your experiences and support healing, integration, and reconnection to your present self. I offer trauma‑informed counselling and psychotherapy online across Australia, including therapeutic dreamwork, for adults navigating impacts of childhood trauma, attachment trauma, complex trauma and early emotional wounds.

How dreams & nightmares might show up

You might notice:

  • vivid or unsettling dreams that feel emotionally charged or that you believe to be significant

  • recurring dream imagery or themes

  • nightmares that leave you anxious or unsettled in your body, emotions, and mind

  • dreams that reflect old patterns, wounds, or familiar emotional states or relationships

  • symbolic scenes that feel connected to childhood trauma or attachment trauma, or of spiritual significance

Dreams and nightmares can be connected to and reflect early attachment wounds, and might become more vivid during times of increased stress or overwhelm and life transitions, when unhelpful coping patterns might also be more prevalent. If your inner world has been speaking through dreams and nightmares, dream therapy offers a way to explore emotional material that may be ready to surface and which is less accessible through other commonly utilised approaches.
